The Journal of Astronomy and Space Sciences (JASS; J. Astron. Space Sci.) is the official publication of the Korean Space Science Society (KSSS), the most prestigious academic society in the fields of space science and space applications in Korea. JASS is an international journal devoted to the publication of fundamental and applied investigations in all aspects of spacerelated science and technology. It was launched in 1984 and is published quarterly. Each article published is assigned a unique DOI that serves to identify the article in the digital environment. JASS is an open access journal; consequently, the full texts of articles are free for all users to read and use. The papers published in JASS are accessible on the journal homepage (http://janss.kr), the DOAJ website, and the SAO/NASA ADS website. JASS has been indexed by KCI and SCOPUS since 2007 and 2012, respectively. Additionally, JASS was re-indexed by DOAJ and newly indexed in the ESCI (Emerging Sources Citation Index) by Clarivate Analytics in 2017. This journal is supported in part by a Grant-in-Aid for the publication of scientific research from the Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies (KOFST).

Mapping of Patterned Regolith Textures Near the Lunar South Pole

Lunar slopes have distinct patterned regolith textures, but their formation mechanism remains enigmatic. We mapped the distribution of these “elephant hide” texture (EHT) occurrences in and out of shadow near the south pole (90°S to 88°S) at a scale of 1:25,000 and 1:20,000 to test if permanently shadowed regions (PSRs) have unique regolith properties relative to non-shadowed areas (polar and equatorial). Polishing is a critical process in fabricating space-telescope mirrors because it determines the surface figure and consequently optical performance. Deterministic polishing relies on the tool influence function (TIF), which describes the spatial material-removal profile. Occurrence Rate of Sunspots in Solar Cycles 12–25

Here, we have statistically investigated the averaged occurrence rate of sunspots during active days to test whether it is uniform across solar cycles, motivated by an intriguing observation that weak solar cycles tend to be preceded by solar minimum with numerous spotless days.
